Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, demons, and dark forces growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of characters who will separate from the central cast to begin their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, wants revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Questers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can expect discovering which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
