19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player won his first title for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents his initial trophy since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from that period of that year.

Victory also means he has achieved twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to perform at the elite level was over.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an better service.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a decider.

He saved four early-game chances in a close final set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
